If you hear a phone ringing, even if it is just a payphone you happen to be walking past on the street, answer it. It will be something pretty important, such as a job offer. It will never be someone trying to sell you double-glazing or insurance.
I once did answer a payphone that was ringing in the street. I was with a bunch of mates and I did it as a joke and was going to a funny accent and pretend to be a Pizza takeaway or something like that, except, it turned out to be my mother.
This totally freaked me out, I mean, what are the chances of that happening? I looked at the number of the payphone and it was exactly one digit different from my home phone number and my mother just happened to miss-dial as I was walking by the payphone.
